WEYAUWEGA (WLUK) -- The Weyauwega-Fremont School District is considering a school mascot change.

The area's high school mascot is the Indians.

That may soon be retired.

The consideration comes amid nationwide scrutiny over problematic depictions of minority groups.

The board has not taken any action on the mascot issue. If the board does decide to retire the current mascot, then the community will be invited to participate in selecting a new mascot. As of now no action has been taken by the board -- and no community forum is scheduled.
