GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Kaukauna's Jordan McCabe has been named the Associated Press's boys basketball player of the year, while Oshkosh North coach Brad Weber has been named the state's coach of the year.

McCabe averaged 26.7 points per game and averaged 7.8 assists per game as the West Virginia recruit led Kaukauna to its second Division 2 state title in three seasons.

McCabe scored his team's final eight points, including the game-winning layup with 2.3 seconds to play, to beat Milwaukee Washington, 76-74 at the Kohl Center.

"The first thing that jumps out is Jordan has tremendous work ethic," Kaukauna coach Mike Schalow said. "With his work ethic he has a great skill set and with that he has outstanding confidence. He's an ultra-competitor. When you you put the hard work ethic with wanting to compete at a high level you have a special player."

McCabe completed his career with 2,442 career points, sixth-best all-time in state history.

Meanwhile, Weber had an impressive first season as North's coach, replacing long-time coach Frank Schade. Weber, a Schade assistant, led North to a 27-1 record and its first state title as it handled Brookfield East, 61-44, in the Division 1 state tournament.

Also, Oshkosh North's Tyrese Haliburton was a first-team pick, while Xavier's Hunter Plamann was a third-team pick and North's Quincy Anderson a fourth-team pick.
