(WLUK) -- The Fox Valley's largest high schools will have conference-only competition for fall sports amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Fox Valley Association made the announcement on Tuesday. All sports will attempt to follow their existing conference schedules as much as possible. Sports with conference competitions prior to the earliest possible dates announced last week by the WIAA will have them rescheduled for later in the fall.

The FVA has canceled the girls swimming and diving conference meet. The girls volleyball Fall Classic and boys volleyball pool play events will not be held as scheduled, but could be conducted at the end of the season.

Conference meets for girls golf, girls tennis and boys and girls cross country are still scheduled. The conference, however, has not determined whether conference champions in any sport will be crowned.

In football, teams will be allowed to scrimmage with opponents before their first games. Games scheduled prior to Sept. 23 may be added to the end of the season is WIAA playoffs are reduced or eliminated.

Guidelines for spectators will be announced closer to the start of events.

The FVA's plans are subject to change based on local school district and health department guidelines.

Decisions on winter sports will be made later.
