DE PERE (WLUK) -- Olivia Fabry has been one of the state's best girls pole vaulters in the state the last three years and her successes did not go unnoticed as she became a Division I college recruit.
Tuesday, the De Pere senior signed her national letter of intent with Notre Dame and she's looking forward to he college career.
"Just real excited to commit to Notre Dame," said Fabry, who won the Division 1 state title last season with a height of 12-6. "As soon as I stepped on campus I knew that is where I wanted to be and the academics there are amazing, the campus is beautiful. The teammates I met there are so nice.
" I just feel very blessed that I can say that's where I'm going to go to school, that's where I'm going to graduate, so I'm excited."
Fabry is the Redbirds’ school record holder in the pole vault at 13-1 and she plans to major in Bio-molecular chemical engineering.
“Olivia has been an important part of the success of De Pere track and field,” coach James Boyd said. “She is truly a team player and never turned down a challenge from the coaching staff.
“Her contributions and success are well documented, but it is her commitment and leadership to (the sport) that has been second to none. I know Olivia will represent De Pere well at Notre Dame.”
