GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Bay Port's Emma Nagel has been named Gatorade Wisconsin girls soccer player of the year.

Nagel is the first Gatorade Wisconsin girls soccer player of the year to be chosen from Bay Port.

The 6-foot junior midfielder had led the Pirates (21-2) to the Division 1 state tournament as Friday, Bay Port, the defending Division 1 state champs, plays Divine Savior Holy Angels in a state semifinal.

Nagel has scored 41 goals and has 15 assists through 23 games this season.

“Emma Nagel is a difference-maker whenever she steps on the field,” said Preble coach Adam Ropson. “Her height, speed and physicality are something you don’t usually see at this level. No one can match her in the air, and she has tremendous ball skills.”
