SEYMOUR (WLUK) -- Hailey Oskey always knew where she wanted to play college basketball and on Thursday she made it official as she signed her national letter of intent to play at Green Bay, starting next season.
Oskey, who led Seymour to a Division 2 sectional final last year and averaged 17.4 points per game, was all smiles after putting pen to paper.
"I've been waiting for five years now," she said. "To be able to come here and finally have it happen is a dream come true I can finally say. Coaches are awesome, they know so much. Like I said before, I know they're going to teach me a lot when I get there and it helps that they're so close."
Phoenix coach Kevin Borseth has seen plenty of Oskey and feels real good about bringing in another local star to team with the likes of Frankie Wurtz (Kimberly), Laken James (Oconto) and Anna Dier (Algoma) next season.
"We've gotten to know her pretty well because she's close to home," Borseth said. "A very promising high school career so far and looking to have a good senior year. We're very excited to have her on board."
Meanwhile, West De Pere's Brehna Evans signed with St. Cloud State on Wednesday.
"I honestly I chose St Cloud State because of the coaches, they were really nice, they really made me feel wanted and they kept contact with me the whole time," Evans said. "I like the style of play they have and obviously I want to work to get some playing time and we'll see how that goes."
