APPLETON (WLUK) -- Downtown Appleton is gearing up for the sixth edition of Mile of Music this summer.
The four-day festival in August is scheduled to feature 900 live performances from 200 acts, along with interactive education sessions.
On Thursday, Mile of Music organizers released the "First 50" list of performers. By June 1, another 150 acts are set to be announced, with the full schedule released by the middle of July.
Now in its sixth year organizers like Corey Chisel said he hopes to provide attendees with an experience they've never had before.
"The festival is becoming more diverse in the sound, style and the different artist we have. So in previous years if you thought maybe this wasn't for you, come check it out and see," said Chisel.
Mile of Music is not only a good way to get people out and enjoying the downtown Appleton area, it's a good economic boost for businesses like the C.U. Saloon.
"Me personally this is my favorite time of the year. We are just packed with people, packed with live music it's just a remarkable environment and it really is maybe the most profitable
weekend of the year and probably the most fun," said George Schroeder the Owner of C.U. Saloon. "This is really about singer songwriters especially in this establishment communicating one on one with the
audience and that's something you don't see very often.
Mile of Music is set for Aug. 2-5 at various locations in downtown Appleton. All concerts are free.
