APPLETON (WLUK) -- Appleton joined 800 cities worldwide, including 65 in the U.S., through music on Thursday.
Musicians of all skill levels and ages were invited to perform during Make Music Day. This day takes place in more than 120 countries and encourages music making.
Musical activities were set up throughout Appleton's downtown area.
Event organizers say that even during performances, the audience is asked to participate.
"Various musicians are sharing what they do and we have music along with them (for audience members) to be able to pick up a ukelele, a guitar, an egg shaker, work to make music together," said DeDe Heid of Heid Music.
Concerts were scheduled to take place through the 6 p.m. hour. But if you miss the celebration, there's always next year.
Mayor Tim Hanna issued a proclamation declaring June 21 "Make Music Day" in Appleton.
