Assistant Race Director, Linda Maxwell, shares why walking the Bellin Run is a good option, and what's in store for those who par-take.Thumbnail

There are some great reasons to Walk the 2019 Bellin 10K Run. Assistant Race Linda Maxwell says it's a great option for those who are former runners, injury-prone, new to fitness or anyone who wants to enjoy the course at a more relaxed pace.

Maxwell says there are plenty of perks in-store for those who do walk the event. Advantages begin pre-race at Baird Place Park. The entire park has been designated as Corral 5, the walker corral, where walkers can hang out, relax in the shade and grab some water. Due to safety concerns, running with strollers is not allowed, but walking with strollers is allowed and encouraged. There will also be DJ's and live entertainment in addition to the energetic spectators in the race-day atmosphere.

Walking the Bellin may encourage lasting healthy habits. Maxwell says habits established while training for the event tend to last long after participants cross the finish line.

The Bellin Run will take place Saturday, June 8th. For those still looking to get registered, head to the Bellin Run website.
