Program focuses on teaching literacy skills

(WCWF) -- This week on CW 14 Focus host Robert Hornacek will be joined by several guests to talk about an issue that impacts millions of people across the country: illiteracy.

Robert will be joined by Robyn Hallet, the executive director of Literacy Green Bay, tutor Megan Willard and student Olivia Alvarez.

On the show, the guests will share their own experience with the program and explain the process of teaching adults to read and write.

"It's surprising that there are adults who are lacking the basic skills that are needed. I think the statistic is about 14% of the population in general is lacking sufficient literacy skills," Hallet said.

CW 14 Focus is a weekly, half-hour interview program that focuses on the issues important to people in northeast Wisconsin. Each week, Robert Hornacek will sit down with a different guest and go beyond the sound bites. The program will highlight the people making a difference in the community and give viewers an opportunity to get in depth perspective. CW 14 Focus airs Sundays at 10 a.m.
