This week on CW 14 Focus host Robert Hornacek will be joined by a man who has dedicated much of his life to caring for the physical and spiritual needs of people in Peru.

Jack MacCarthy is a Norbertine priest and a medical doctor who spent nearly 30 years running a medical clinic in Peru.

That clinic served one main village and more than 100 small villages in the jungle.

MacCarthy is now back living in the Green Bay area.

On the show, MacCarthy talks about his call to serve as a medical missionary and the difficult conditions he faced in Peru.

"Travel is hard. Many villages you go in there will be one guy with a big, dugout canoe and a small Allis-Chalmers engine on the back, or a Briggs and Stratton or Yamaha. But the usual means of travel is by canoe. Most of our people in a canoe are two or three days, some of them six days away from the clinic."

CW 14 Focus is a weekly, half-hour interview program that focuses on the issues important to people in northeast Wisconsin. Each week, Robert Hornacek will sit down with a different guest and go beyond the sound bites. The program will highlight the people making a difference in the community and give viewers an opportunity to get in depth perspective. CW 14 Focus airs Sundays at 10 a.m.
