Organizations work together to address illiteracy

(WCWF) -- This week on CW 14 Focus host Robert Hornacek will be joined by two guests who are working together to combat illiteracy.

Kathy Cornell is the executive director of Literacy Green Bay. Kay Baranczyk is the CEO of the YWCA of Greater Green Bay.

The two organizations are partnering for a new Children First Family Literacy program. As part of the program, parents are able to work towards their GED while their children receive additional instruction.

"So I think we're breaking the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by addressing both the parents needs and the children's needs at the same time," Cornell said.

CW 14 Focus is a weekly, half-hour interview program that focuses on the issues important to people in northeast Wisconsin. Each week, Robert Hornacek will sit down with a different guest and go beyond the sound bites. The program will highlight the people making a difference in the community and give viewers an opportunity to get in depth perspective. CW 14 Focus airs Sundays at 10 a.m.
