Thousands of participants. 100 participating countries. 5 Guinness World Records. One Week. Gishewhes has been called the “greatest international scavenger hunt the world has ever seen.” And you can be apart of it with ‘Supernatural” star, Misha Collins.
How it works: Teams of 15 acquire items on a list. Sounds simple, right? Here’s the catch, they have to be creative. You take a picture or a video of it and upload it to the website. The more creative, the more points awarded.
The items on the list range from acts of kindness like “performing a puppet show at a children’s hospital” to crazier things like “a Storm Tropper cleaning a pool.”
Gishwhes believes that ““normalcy” is overrated and that true “living” can be found hidden under the rocks of community artistic creation and in acts of artistic sublime public performances.”
They want people to break out of their comfort zones, humiliate themselves a little bit but at the same time do a bit of good in the world.
Gishewhes holds the Guinness World Records for such titles as “The Most Global Hugs, (108,121)” “Most pledges to commit charitable Acts of Kindness (93,376).
In a note to participants, Misha Collins says, “GISHWHES is about creating art, pushing boundaries, perpetrating acts of kindness and, ultimately, redefining our perception of “the possible.”
He goes on to say that participants of committed over 93,000 random acts of kindness and have fed thousands of the world’s homeless while on the hunt.
He continues, “So maybe this hunt is helping to wake us up from our stupor of normalcy just a little bit. Maybe it’s giving us a chance to remember that the real possibilities open to us at any given moment are limited only by our imagination. ”
