Mediation center works to resolve conflicts in community

This Sunday, CW 14 Focus host Robert Hornacek was joined by two guests from the Mediation Center of Greater Green Bay.

Executive director Laura Smythe and mediator Nancy Daniels appeared on the show. They talked about the mediation process, what it is and how it can help the community.

Last year, the center mediated more than 775 cases. Smythe says 87% of those disputes were resolved.

On the program, the guests also offer some tips on how you can resolve conflict in your own life.

“Compromise does not necessarily mean meeting halfway,” Daniels said. “Reaching a resolution means reaching a place that you both think is fair given all the circumstances not necessarily meeting halfway in between.”

CW 14 Focus is a weekly, half-hour interview program that focuses on the issues important to people in northeast Wisconsin. Each week, Robert Hornacek will sit down with a different guest and go beyond the sound bites. The program will highlight the people making a difference in the community and give viewers an opportunity to get in depth perspective. CW 14 Focus airs Sundays at 10 a.m.
