150 years later, St. Willebrord still serving immigrants

This Sunday, CW 14 Focus host Robert Hornacek was joined by two guests to talk about the unique history of St. Willebrord Parish in downtown Green Bay.

Mike Hermans, the president of the parish council, and Judy Maricque, co-chair of the 150th anniversary committee, appeared on the show.

The parish is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

St. Willebrord Parish opened in 1864 as a spiritual home for Dutch immigrants. The church continues to serve immigrants today with a large number of members from the Hispanic community.

The parish is also part of the Packers Heritage Trail. Former Packers head coach Vince Lombardi frequently attended daily Mass at St. Willebrord.

CW 14 Focus is a weekly, half-hour interview program that focuses on the issues important to people in northeast Wisconsin. Each week, Robert Hornacek will sit down with a different guest and go beyond the sound bites. The program will highlight the people making a difference in the community and give viewers an opportunity to get in depth perspective. CW 14 Focus airs Sundays at 10 a.m.
